Agua, Vida y Tierra
Created as a response to the trauma of Hurricane MarĂa, the piece combines video, sound, music, dance, text and projection to create a theatrical experience that is part epic poem, part historical drama, part celebration and part funeral liturgy. Based on interviews and research gathered during two residencies on the island, the project considers the continuous legacy of erasure, cultural death and denial of Puerto Rican humanity by colonizing powers in the last 400 years. With the support of the Puffin Foundation, What Will the Neighbors Say? was able to develop the work further, deepen our research and source essential equipment and resources to expand and update the piece.
